“Diving In with Curiosity! Joining Tridge in Transforming the Agri-Food Supply Chain.”

Pedro is Tridge's newest addition, currently serving as an Account Executive handling the Iberian Market. With 13 years of extensive experience across various European markets, Pedro brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our sales operations. His strategic approach and proven track record in driving growth and fostering strong client relationships make him an invaluable asset to the team. His dedication, passion for sales, and relentless work ethic have already proven to be invaluable assets to the Tridge team.

Q. Could you introduce yourself?

▶ Hello, my name is Pedro Guimarães. I am originally from Portugal and currently reside in Spain. I bring over 13 years of experience in B2B sales, including five years in leadership roles. Prior to relocating to Spain, I spent nearly nine years working in the UK. In September 2024, I joined Tridge after taking a career break to recharge and enjoy the benefits of travel. I am now part of the Growth Solution Global Sales Team, where I oversee the Iberian market.

Q. What factors influenced you and most appealed to you for joining Tridge?

▶ What Initially attracted me to send my CV was the company's scale-up phase. Tridge is particularly focusing and accelerating its expansion. Secondly,  I was intrigued by the innovative B2B platform Tridge offers for the agri-food sector. Throughout the whole interview process, I became increasingly confident that this was a unique professional opportunity, considering the potential to implement the type of solutions. Tridge was developing in this agrifood sector. Also joining the company in this scale-up phase could bring immense internal growth to my career. Lastly, I was impressed by the strong work ethic of the team members I met, which reassured me that we share similar values.

Q.  How was the process in terms of joining Tridge that includes the candidate interview and could you share a little bit more about what was expected during the process?

▶ The candidate interview process at Tridge was exceptionally friendly, transparent, and efficient. In my case, it took three months from the moment I sent my CV via LinkedIn until I officially started working at Tridge. I went through six stages of the candidate interview process beginning with a call from a team member of the talent team. Then, an interview call with the Head of Global HR, followed by a discussion with the Head of the hiring team. One of the standout moments was the opportunity to speak with the CEO, which I found impressive, as it demonstrates the company's commitment to connecting candidates with leadership. The final stages included a reference check and an offer call.

As a last note, the most important aspect was the clear and speedy communication between the different stages from the Tridge team members. One of the key highlights for me was the clear and timely communication throughout each stage. I never felt left out or forgotten at any point, which contributed to a very positive experience.

Q: How would you describe your onboarding experience?

▶ My onboarding experience was amazing. Tridge has a dedicated team mainly focused on onboarding and training new joiners. Despite the time difference from Spain to South Korea, everyone was incredibly supportive and readily available to help me get up to speed with both business and team matters as quickly as possible.

In addition, Tridge is open to feedback throughout and after the onboarding process, which reflects its commitment to continuous improvement and fostering a better work environment.

Q. What’s your favorite aspect of working here so far? What stood out to you about the company’s values or environment?

▶ So far what I appreciate the most about working at Tridge is the trust I have from everyone. Being a Global remote team member doesn’t help to get a perfect overview of the company’s environment. Still, I have to confess I am really impressed with everyone’s integrity in shaping the company’s business and culture. Also, I’d say Tridge really focuses on a few pillars, that are at the same time crucial for internal teams, but also externally for all the different stakeholders that are involved with our business. Those pillars are integrity, discipline, transparency, intensity and ambition.

Q: What surprised you the most during your first few days at the company?

▶During my initial days at the company, I was pleasantly surprised by how friendly and available everyone was at Tridge’s Headquarters in Seoul. They all made me feel so welcome.

Q: Tridge's staff are largely divided into Global and HQ teams. How do you collaborate with HQ and other Global team members?

▶ Even though I work for the Global team, with team members spread across all corners of the world, and being the majority of the other team members based in Seoul, at Tridge’s Headquarters, I can see the company works as one  cohesive unit and there is a clear communication channel for everyone, regardless of their team or location.

Being a part of the Global team means our primary focus is growing business outside of South Korea, but there is great collaboration between the headquarters and team members like myself. The headquarters members understand that we all need flexibility to adapt to things like time zones. So far, there has never been a time I got delayed in accessing information, requests, or team members. Tools like Slack and Google Meets keep us closely connected, making collaboration smooth and efficient.

Q: What skills or qualities do you think are the most important for someone to thrive in this environment?

▶ To thrive in an environment like Tridge, where agility, innovation, and global reach are essential, several skills and qualities are crucial. Number one, adaptability. The global market and supply chain sectors are dynamic. You will need to quickly adapt to changing market conditions, customer needs and business strategies, especially in emerging markets. Number two, proactive problem solving. Identifying challenges and devising data-driven solutions is crucial. This requires a forward-thinking mindset, creativity, and the ability to anticipate issues before they arise. Number three, collaboration and cross-cultural communication. Tridge operates in diverse markets with teams across multiple continents. Working effectively in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams is key to succeeding in this environment. Number four, customer. Understanding client needs and offering tailored solutions is critical, particularly in sales and business development. This includes a deep understanding of Tridge’s product offerings and the value they provide to customers. Number 5, technical and analytical skills Leveraging data and technology is central to Tridge’s model. Being comfortable working with data analytics tools and platforms. And interpreting market intelligence will give you a competitive edge. And finally, number six, resilience and ownership. In a highly competitive and evolving industry, resilience, persistence, and a strong sense of ownership over your projects are key to long-term success. So overall, these qualities will not only help you thrive at reach, but will also make you a valuable contributor to its mission to transform global trade.

Q: What does a typical day look like for an account executive at Tridge?

▶ As someone responsible for generating business for Tridge and helping the company’s growth, my most important focus is three things. External Stakeholders like clients, partners, etc. Second, Internal Stakeholders such as all team members that impact my job and number three, Tridge’s information like products and services, plans, culture, etc. My days are spent strategizing to create new business opportunities and engaging with all external stakeholders who can help with that goal - primarily potential clients. Obviously, maintaining open communication with internal team members is crucial for enhancing productivity and facilitating my work. Finally, I also need to spend time continuously learning about Tridge's offering. Again, that keeps me closer to generating new business opportunities, short to medium and long-term plans, as well as doing my best to keep fitting the company’s culture.

Q: If you were to give advice to someone hesitating to pursue a career in sales, what would you say?

▶ If someone is hesitating to pursue a career in sales, I'd say embrace the challenge. Sales offers dynamic opportunities to develop essential skills like communication, problem solving and resilience, while also providing the chance to make a tangible impact on a business. In sales, you will learn to navigate various industries, build relationships and continually grow both personally and professionally. Sales isn't just about selling products. It's about creating value for others and driving results. It's a career that teaches adaptability, persistence, and the importance of active listening with the potential for high rewards and constant learning. Don't let uncertainty hold you back. It's an exciting path filled with growth and opportunities.
