Tridge, a B2B specialized global marketplace for agricultural and food products, announced that starting 2024, Korean small and medium-sized domestic agricultural and food companies will be able to utilize government assistance for Tridge Social Marketplace, similar to existing programs like Alibaba. Tridge emphasized its dedication to actively support the overseas market development for SMEs in the domestic agricultural, livestock, and fisheries sectors.
Tridge, a unicorn company pioneering agri-tech innovation in South Korea, connects 'buyers' and 'sellers' like a bridge based on trade data of agricultural and fishery products amounting to approximately 12 billion worldwide transactions. The platform brings innovation to the planning and execution of ‘go-to-market’ strategies for the food tech sector in South Korea.
Tridge introduced methods for pioneering new markets using data and practical support measures at the 'Food Tech Seminar,' a sub-event of the 15th annual 'Korea Food Show,' hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs organized by the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation. Growth solution features include but are not limited to real-time cross-border transaction data, potential business partner analytics, and local level news about agri-food trends from all over the world by single search.
At the seminar, Tridge explained how SMEs in the domestic agricultural and fishery sectors could benefit from Tridge, citing a case study of what happened to domestic grapefruit market due to the recent conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Hawon Jhung, a head of the Growth Solution Department at Tridge stated, "Tridge is a platform where agricultural and fishery data from sellers and buyers worldwide are accumulated on a daily basis. This platform allows real-time confirmation of trade volumes and also successfully operates Tridge Social Marketplace (TSM)." He added, "Through TSM, there's an advantage in immediately addressing supply imbalances by finding alternative or circumventing routes for agricultural and fishery products like Israeli grapefruits."
Furthermore, Jhung emphasized that even SMEs can utilize Tridge as a platform to introduce themselves to global buyers and facilitate exports, as 97% of registered user accounts on Tridge are from overseas companies. He shared news that starting from next year, utilizing government assistance for Tridge services will be possible, and by linking with support measures such as export vouchers, it will be possible to create synergies, allowing high-quality Korean agricultural and fishery products to be available on dinner tables worldwide.
Meanwhile, utilizing the platform with government assistance will become possible throughout the year through public projects such as those by aT (Agriculture & Trade Corporation) and local governments. Tridge's policy is to actively support the overseas market development and sustainable growth of SMEs by concentrating on and supporting South Korean competitive agricultural and food products.
